Poaching and Habitat LossOn a daily basis, we are being poached for our skin, claws, bones, or just for play. Our claws and bones are used in some traditional medicines in Asia, and our skin is sold as a luxury item. All of these items are also symbols in some cultures. Some people who are responsible for the high demand of us in the Black Market are the consumers of products, poachers, tiger farm owners, weak governments, and global corporations. Consumers buy our byproducts for a luxury item or our supposed healing powers in certain cultures. Poaching is increasing the death of us. The tiger farms' purpose isn't to benefit our population by breeding us. They are breeding us for the purpose of the products that are made from us. While there may be laws that object against illegal trafficking of our species, the government doesn't provide us enough safety and protection from poachers and industrial corporations. Along with poaching, habitat loss is a factor to decreasing of the tiger's population. Extreme habitat fragmentation(Density Dependent Factors), such as deforestation and Krakatoa's volcanic eruptions , has caused tigers to have to adapt to small portions of their old habitat and smaller supplies of food. The independent factor, Krakatoa's eruption, has caused a scarcity in our food and some difficulty for us to reproduce due to the lack of space and resources. Roads have also caused us to be more vulnerable to poachers.
